A native of St. Louis, MO, Robert has performed since singing in children's choir as a 5-year-old in church. He grew to love the music of the Beatles and other rock and roll classics as a little boy, and his most prized possession was his miniature suitcase-style 45 rpm record player and numerous 45’s.
Robert performed in band, choir, and musical theatre throughout his high school and college years. He began his professional career as a nightclub DJ at Studebaker's in Springfield MO - dressing in a retro 1950's style and actually spinning oldies on 45 rpm records! It was in Springfield that he attended Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State) and earned his bachelor’s degree in music.
However, Robert's passion had always been playing the piano and singing – going back to his childhood with family sing-a-longs led by his Mom…
His solo piano bar career began in Springfield in the early 1980's at San Francisco Rose (now long gone) and Ebbett's Field (still there). In 1987, he moved to Chicago and spent a few years as a successful nightclub DJ, eventually transitioning to full-time dueling piano bar entertainment. Robert began working for Rum Runners Dueling Pianos in Lansing, MI and splitting time between Michigan and Chicago for that position. In addition to performing on a nightly basis, his responsibilities included supervising multiple venues' entertainment programs and managing a diverse group of piano entertainers.
From 1995 till 2014, Robert performed at some of the most successful dueling and solo piano bars in the country, including Howl at the Moon (Chicago, 2002-'09), Slugger's (Chicago), The Redhead (Chicago), The Ivory Room (Madison WI), Chopstix (Seattle WA), Elaine's (Asheville, NC), and Crocodile Rocks (Myrtle Beach SC), to name a few.
Relocating to the Twin Cities in 2014 opened up many new and exciting performing opportunities, and since then Robert has been entertaining audiences all over the Midwest – in small towns to large cities throughout Wisconsin, Iowa, North and South Dakota, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Minnesota.
In all of his years providing fun and interactive musical entertainment,, Robert has performed for literally hundreds of thousands of people!
